Living my Pinterest Dream at Mount Rainier
For as long as I can remember, I’ve scrolled through Pinterest, pinning beautiful photos taken at Mount Rainier National Park. It wasn’t just a “to-do” on my bucket list, but a dream that I longed to experience someday. And last summer, that dream finally came true. It was even better than I imagined: snowcapped mountains, fields of blooming wildflowers, and scenes that looked like they belonged in Switzerland.
Even though I’m not a morning person, I woke up early to arrive at the park’s Nisqually entrance just before sunrise. The winding drive up the mountain made me a little carsick, so I rolled down the window to take in the fresh scent of pines. Evergreens covered the mountainsides as we drove, crossing bridges that stretched across melting snow and rushing rivers. As we made our way up the mountain, my excitement grew. . .
Reflection lake
When we arrived at Reflection Lake, the air was cool and crisp. The sun was just beginning to rise. And then - I saw it. My first real view of Mount Rainier. It was spectacular. As the bright orange sun emerged from the distant peaks, it cast a shimmer of gold across the lake. Mount Rainier reflected perfectly on the water. I felt the need to pinch myself in this moment.
I spent the early morning walking around the lake, savoring my first few moments in the park. At this point, I felt like I was living in my Pinterest board. I walked along the path as the sun lit up the pine trees, with pink and white flowers growing along the edges, and the gentle sound of water flowing from the lake into little creeks.
Paradise
They call it Paradise for a reason. The moment we arrived, we were put in awe. Amidst the breathtaking scene, we spotted a deer galloping through the lush green fields full of flowers. During that time of year, wildflowers in every color were blooming along the way to Myrtle Falls. I highly recommend this spot - it’s a picture-perfect, Switzerland-like scene. The mountain stands tall in the background, the bridge goes across the stream, and the water falls off the ledge. It’s straight out of a postcard.
We spent the day wandering around Paradise, taking in the views from every angle. I can’t recommend visiting Paradise enough - it’s a place where you’ll feel completely at ease.
We walked quiet trails, listened to the songs of the birds in the trees, and to the gentle trickle of water downstream from the melting snow. There’s something about having no cell service and being in the mountains. Every moment felt peaceful and alive.
Thank you for reading my very first blog post - I truly appreciate it! I hope it inspires you to take a drive, go on a walk, or simply enjoy a quiet moment in nature ♡
